FILAMemphis Inc. was founded to enhance and preserve the Filipino heritage of the Mid-South and to educate the community of Filipino tradition.

Recognizing the desire to serve the Filipino American community in Memphis and the Mid-South.

Our Missions

Our mission is fourfold:

1. Provide charitable and humanitarian programs that benefit both the Filipino and broader Memphis communities.

2. Promote and preserve Filipino heritage through cultural and community programming.

3. Encourage youth to pursue higher education through scholarships and mentorship.

4. Strengthen cross-cultural ties among Filipinos, Americans, and other ethnic groups in Memphis.

The impact of FILAMemphis is reflected in the success of Filipino-Americans who now thrive as students, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, educators, and civic leaders many of whom attribute their resilience and achievements to the support of this organization. Their contributions strengthen Memphis’ economy, enrich its cultural fabric, and affirm the city’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Our History

FILAMemphis, Inc. (Filipino-American Association of Memphis) was founded in 1977 by a small group of Filipino immigrants seeking community, belonging, and support in a new city. What began as a small social network has grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Filipino-Americans, fostering cultural pride, and promoting cross-cultural understanding in Memphis. For nearly five decades, FILAMemphis has served as a cultural anchor and bridge, helping families navigate the challenges of immigration while creating a sense of belonging for the next generation.
